Western Global fuel tank withstands 80 foot drop test
World West, a supplier of portable tanks and dispensing equipment for storing and handling fuels, lubricants and other fluids, recently demonstrated the durability and strength of its TransCube Global fuel tank by dropping a filled tank of 260 gallons of water at 80 feet in the air.
After the 80ft drop test, the tank showed no signs of leaking or losing pressure, the company said, and the tank was only slightly compressed due to the heavy weight and initial impact. .
“Our goal is to make sure our tanks are ready for anything, in any environment,” said Ken Steury, Western Global Americas Area Sales Manager. “To make sure our tanks are up to industry standards, we do a 4ft drop test every year. We decided to take it a step further and go for an 80ft drop.
“We wanted to prove how our tanks can provide an extremely durable solution for safely storing fuel by withstanding weather and general wear and tear on a jobsite.”
Western Global documented the drop test via video to record the result. The video is available to view here.
The TransCube Global is a transportable, DOT-approved, double-walled fuel tank designed specifically for auxiliary fuel supply and efficient on-site refueling. The cube-shaped tanks contain 110% fluids and meet global transportation standards to ensure safe transportation of fuel, Western Global said. The tank is designed to be easily transported on truck beds, trailers and in standard shipping containers. The TransCube Global can also be stacked up to three when empty and two when full, minimizing space consumption.
Western Global tanks include four-way forklift passages and corner brackets for reinforcement when lifting with a crane, making it even easier to move tanks around a jobsite.
The TransCube Global tank is available in six sizes ranging from 132 US gallons (500 liters) to 1,204 US gallons (4,558 liters). Western Global also offers advanced fuel monitoring systems to help businesses track fuel supplies remotely.
