Webinar to cover logistics, transportation of Brazil and Arab countries

São Paulo – To discuss the challenges and opportunities in logistics and freight transport between Brazil and the Arab countries and the role of the Suez Canal Sea Route, the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) will host a webinar on Tuesday July 6 at 9:00 a.m. (BRT), 2:00 p.m. (EET / EGY), with experts from the Brazilian and Arab sector. The event will be in English with translation into Arabic and Portuguese; it will last one hour and 40 minutes and is free. Registrations are open. “The event will address the obstacles and challenges we are currently facing in the field of logistics. We will also discuss the opportunities: how the Arab countries and Brazil can strengthen the logistical links, the creation of hubs and specific product processing zones for Brazil in the Arab countries and the possibility of creating a direct sea route between the countries. Arabs and Brazil, ”said ABCC General Secretary Tamer Mansour.

The first session will focus on investments in the logistics sector and will include lectures by the Vice-President of the Lebanese Investment Development Authority (IDAL), Alaa Hamieh; the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Infrastructure, Felipe Fernandes Queiroz, and the Port Advisor of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), Mohamed Abdelaziz.

The second theme will be the integration of global value chains with Arab countries. It will have the participation of the Dean of the College of International Transport and Logistics (CITLC) of the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Sara Hassan Kamal Elgazzar; the coordinator of the Center of Excellence in Supply Chain and Logistics of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation of São Paulo (FGVcelog), Orlando Cattini Junior; and ABCC Business Intelligence Manager Marcus Vinícius Pillon; chaired by the secretary general of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC), Qaisar Hijazin.

The third and final part of the webinar will focus on technology and how it can improve the efficiency of international logistics. Norsul Shipping Company Supply Chain Director and Sales Director Fabian Lavaselli will participate in the conversation; AP Moller-Maersk Global Director of Protein and Dairy Products, Jean Stoll; the general manager of the port of Açu, João Braz; the vice-president of operations of the Port of Pecém, Cornelis Hulst; and the vice-president of Egypt Global Logistics (Kadmar Group) and president of the Egyptian International Freight Forwarding Association (EIFFA), Medhat Elkady.

The seminar will be opened by Ambassador Osmar Chohfi, President of the ABCC; Khaled Hanafy, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers (UAC); and Adel Abou Rejeili, President of the Brazil-Lebanon Chamber of Commerce (CCBL) in Rio de Janeiro. Mansour will lead the first and third sessions and complete the activities.
