Telangana CM attacks Center on Agricultural Laws and Fuel Prices
Hyderabad: In a sign of the shape of the political developments likely to unfold in the state, the chief minister of Telangana and supremo of the TRS party, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, blasted on Sunday the controversial agricultural laws introduced by the government of Narendra Modi and asked the Center to repeal the three agricultural laws. .
He also accused the central government of misleading the country about international oil prices.
The chief minister’s tirade came in the wake of the BJP’s victory over the ruling TRS in the recent high-stakes Huzurabad Assembly poll. It was a fierce battle that former TRS chief and sacked Minister of State Eatela Rajender won as a BJP candidate.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, KCR, as Telangana’s chief minister is commonly known, fired several rounds against the central government led by Modi.
Placing the responsibility for ensuring the food security of the population squarely on the Center, KCR accused it of taking a shifting stance on paddy supply. He said issues such as the supply, storage and export of food grains are the responsibility of the central government.
Warning the head of BJP’s Telangana unit, Bandi Sanjay, not to encourage farmers to grow paddy as a summer crop, KCR said farmers are free to grow paddy if the central government is ready to do so. ‘to buy.
KCR also accused the Center of misleading the country about fuel prices in international markets since the BJP came to power.
âThe Center has been exposing lies about fuel prices for seven years. In 2014, crude oil prices were $ 105 per barrel. Even when crude prices hit a low of $ 30, they never cut fuel prices in the country. The BJP keeps saying that international oil prices have continued to rise, âthe Chief Minister said.
KCR said that despite the increase in fuel prices by the central government, the state government did not increase VAT on gasoline or diesel.
The chief minister’s comments came at a time when the state’s road transport company is considering raising bus fares to the tune of 25 to 30 paise per km, citing the rise in the price of diesel.
Telangana’s chief minister has maintained a cordial relationship with the central government so far. However, with the BJP becoming aggressive in the state, both sides are expected to harden their positions in the days to come.
