Tamworth Truck and Van Workshop is Sapphire’s new crown jewel
Sapphire Vehicle Services – one of Britain’s most successful independent commercial vehicle repairers – has unveiled its first in a nationwide network of all-make truck and van depots.
Strategically located, just off the busy M42 and A5 thoroughfares, the Tamworth site marks the first step in an aggressive push for more business – other facilities are already under development and are expected to open soon.
Sapphire Vehicle Services is already a household name for many of the UK’s leading transport operators, who operate fleets of some of the best-known names in the supermarket industry. The company maintains more than 28,000 trucks and vans for its customers in dedicated vehicle service units across the country. For others, however, it could be “the biggest brand you’ve never heard of.”
Although not tied to any truck manufacturer, the new Tamworth site rivals many major dealer workshops. It has eight bays, equipped with pits and elevators – one is specially designed to house an indoor truck wash – as well as a spare parts store, offices and a comfortable waiting area for drivers. Importantly, the site also offers ample cornering space and enough space to park at least 50 trucks in its huge yard.
With a staff of 14 trained technicians, led by Manager Ian Evans and supported by Workshop Controller Chris Small and Service Administrator Leigh Darrock, the facility is already starting to take business. After an official launch on July 1, it will open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
For truck operators, from the largest fleets to owner-operators with a single vehicle, the benefits Sapphire can offer are clear.
âWe have invested heavily in setting up this site,â says Ian Evans. âThe building has been completely renovated and is now equipped with diagnostic equipment and tools for all major makes of vehicles. We have a stock of genuine original parts, and the workshop and our pair of fully equipped mobile roadside assistance vans operate around the clock.
âI think customers will be pleasantly surprised by the depth and breadth of the backup we can offer, whether on a pay-as-you-go or contract basis, at very competitive prices.
