No 10 could help 10,000 workers tackle heavy truck driver crisis as stations set £ 30 limits

Explained: Why are gas stations closing?

Industry experts said there was no shortage of gasoline, but there had been issues with the lack of truck drivers to get it to the right place.

Panic buying has made matters worse, with many gas stations reporting long lines as everyone rushes to refuel their tanks.

Some were unable to meet unexpected demand and were forced to temporarily shut down pending deliveries.

Full closures appear to be rare, but several supermarket and gas station bosses have reported running out of specific types of fuel between new deliveries.

A gas station manager said 5Live lunch: “At least once a week now we have to change the diesel or unleaded. It’s a problem, but it’s not a problem of our fuel suppliers because there is a lot of fuel there. “

Drivers have been urged not to stockpile fuel, as this will only cause more widespread closures and could have more serious consequences if emergency service workers are stuck in long lines or unable to get gasoline when needed.
