JKRTC will establish a “charging station” for its electric buses in the city center

Srinagar, November 15: TIn order to minimize energy waste and cover more areas in the future, the Jammu & Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) will establish a “charging station” for its electric buses in the city, an official said on Monday. .
He said the motive for putting the charging station into service in the city center was to serve more remote areas, which are still being left out, and to save wasted energy due to “round trips. “buses to the existing charging station. located in Parimpora, Bemina here.
Speaking exclusively to Rising Kashmir, an official who wished to remain anonymous, said the Jammu & Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) will soon establish a charging station in the city here.
He said the station will have a center of “charging points” for electric buses deployed by JKRTC running on several routes in the valley.
âThe JKRTC is keen to increase its infrastructure. In the past, the company was a major service provider to J&K, but for some reason its services were affected in one way or another. Meanwhile, to increase and expand its infrastructure and services, the JKRTC will soon set up a charging station in the city center which will play a crucial role in the benefit of society in terms of energy, âsaid the responsible.
He said that JKRTC already has a charging station in Parimpora, Bemina Bypass, however, it consumes unexpected energy from our buses while reaching there to recharge and simultaneously return to their allocated routes.
Officials said that when an electric bus has to reach the ParimporaBemina ring road charging station, it has to travel a distance of almost 40 kilometers (round trip from the city center), which consumes a lot of energy. of these vehicles and therefore brings little benefit to society.
“The higher authorities of the Corporation have deliberated on the matter on several occasions and it has been decided that the same type of charging station will be established in the city center here in order to save the energy of these electric buses,” he said. he declared.
The official also said that to avoid energy loss, such a type of charging station in the city center will provide satisfactory results for the company.
To a question, the official said that the new charging station will come to the Lala Rukh hotel in the city center from here and that work on the project has already started. He added: “I hope the station will be operational within two months.”
He added that once the station is completed, the JKRTC will start operating around the clock in urban areas and elsewhere.
âCurrently, our electric buses must reach the Parimpora bypass to acquire energy to operate. This process also wastes our drivers time, so once JKRTC offers their new charging station nearby, it will not only save us time, but provide us with a way to think about new plans, âhe said. -he adds.
In particular, the JKRTC will resume its exclusive bus service for women in the city’s neighborhoods in addition to the deployment of fifteen 20-seater buses in the city in the coming days.
Company officials hoped that with such initiatives the company would return to its former position when it was seen as a major service provider across Jammu and Kashmir.
