The strike is expected to impact transportation and banking across the country. The All India Bank Employees Association has announced its support for the strike.

Amarjeet Kaur, general secretary of the All Indian Trade Union Congress, told the PTI news agency that they expect the participation of more than 20 million formal and informal workers with a massive mobilization of workers across the country. . Several banks, including the SBI, already have statements advising customers that banking services could be impacted on Monday and Tuesday.

The West Bengal government has asked all its employees to report for work during the 48-hour nationwide strike or else they will receive show cause notices. Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court on Friday banned five unions of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Kochi, from participating in the strike.
